Cost: There is no charge for this FREE workshop and lunch will be provided. However, you must register ahead of time.

Topics Covered: A variety of Green Building Related topics will be covered during this workshop, including: Energy Efficient Lighting Technology; High Efficiency HVAC Systems; Roof Insulation Options; Energy Efficient Windows and Doors; ENERGY STAR Appliances; Using Recycled Content Building Materials; Better Building Envelopes for Energy Savings and Greater Safety.

Green Local Tours

Date & Time: Friday, May 27, 2005 – 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM – The tours will begin shortly following the conclusion of the GreenTrends 2005 Conference.

Location: Tours leave and return to The Chelsea Center, 2506 Gulf Gate Drive, Sarasota, FL 34234

Tour Sites: The following Sarasota County green building locations will be visited during this tour.

-Lakewood Ranch - (Bradenton, FL) Green Homes and Green Development Certified by FGBC

-Twin Lakes Office Building Complex - (Sarasota, FL) Green Commercial Building Certified by the USGBC

-Venetian Golf and River Club - (North Venice, FL) All Homes in this Development, as well as the Development itself, are Certified by FGBC

Cost: The price for a tour is $30.00 and includes a box lunch with drink.

Sign Up: You can sign up and pay for a tour as part of the GreenTrends Registration process. Extra tickets for the tours can also be purchase at that time. Space is limited on these tours and will be filled on a first come basis.

Sarasota Efest 2005
A Community Festival Celebrating Sustainable Living

Dates & Times:

    • Efest Opening Night – Friday, May 27, 2005 – 7:00 PM
    • Saturday Festivities – Saturday, May 28, 2005 – 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Location: Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota, Florida

Activities:

    • Efest Opening Night – A special Gala Social Event featuring Keynote Speaker, Ray Anderson, CEO Interface, Inc., plus a premier, professionally produced documentary highlighting Sarasota County’s commitment to building sustainable communities, and a reception including Organic wine and hors d’oeuvres with live Flutist, Keith Coker.
    • Saturday Festivities – This is an event where E = energy, economy, environment, equality, ecology, entrepreneurs, education and excellence. It will provide you with an opportunity to connect with over 100 businesses and organizations exhibiting innovative products, services and resources in a festive outdoor setting. You can also attend inspiring speeches by prominent leaders and business visionaries, while you indulge in natural/organic foods and drinks. Plus there will be live local musicians, book signings and playtime at the EcoKidZone. Event will be held Rain or Shine.

Florida Green Building Open Golf Tournament

Date & Time : Sunday, May 29, 2005 – 1:30 PM

Location: Venetian Golf & River Club – 103 Pesaro Drive, North Venice, FL 34275

Sponsor: Sponsored by WCI Communities and Venetian Golf and River Club.

Host: This event is being hosted by the Florida Green Building Coalition, Inc. in partnership with Sustainable Sarasota.

Event: This is a fund raising event for the Host organizations and includes both the golf tournament during the afternoon, followed by a wonderful dinner in the Venetian Golf and River Club’s elegant new River club. Prizes will be awarded to the top winners.

Cost: Shotgun Entry Fee (Dinner Included) is $125.00 per person.
