The Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) is the state's premier resource for the green building industry and local governments. It is a 501(C)3 Florida non-profit organization that develops and administers green certification standards. FGBC standards are the only green certification standards that are based on climate specific criteria, which address Florida's hot, humid environment and natural disasters, making it more appropriate for our state. Since its inception in 2000, the FGBC has over 3,100 homes, 50+ developments, 50+ local governments, 14 commercial buildings, and 3 hi-rise residential buildings either certified or registered in its programs. The FGBC also accredits Certifying Agents and Project Evaluators. These green building professionals conduct the required inspections to verify a project was constructed to the designed standard and achieved the requirements to earn a green certification. To date, over 230 Certifying Agents have been certified.
